Health monitoring may control and exclude the variability of laboratory animals due to their health status, increasing experimental reliability and repeatability. NLAC's pathogen detection service offers serology, bacteriology, parasitology, and molecular biological tests. Different test assurance procedures are carried out for the above tests and established a profound and reliable health monitoring standard for all animal facilities in Taiwan, meeting the international criteria of the laboratory animal quality.

NLAC diagnostic laboratory obtained accreditations from "Taiwan Accreditation Foundation (TAF)" on 12 items, and diagnostic reports are generated based on the criteria of ISO17025; all procedures are conformed to the accreditation requirement to maintain the test quality. Since 2010, the diagnostic laboratory has participated in the Performance Evaluation Program for Diagnostic Laboratories (PEP) of the International Council of Laboratory Animal Science (ICLAS) to verify the laboratory's testing and detection abilities.
