Strain Description
1.  The cassette containingloxP-Wdr19 cDNA (E4-E36)-RFP-polyA tail-Frt-Neo-Frt-loxP replacedWdr19 regions from exon 4 to exon 37 in BAC (bacterial artificial chromosome) clone by homologous recombination. The linear modified BAC DNA was electroporated into C57BL/6JNarl ES cells (embryonic stem cells). The positive ES cells were injected into C57BL/6JNarl albino blastocysts which were transferred into pseudopregnant mice to generated chimeric mice.
2.  The Wdr19-KO mice (Wdr19f/- ; Cdh16-creTg/0) exhibited smaller bodies and larger kidneys than the WT (wild-type) mice at postnatal 21 days. The kidney weight-to-body ratio of Wdr19-KO mice was greater than that of their control littermates from postnatal 21 days to 28 days.
3.  The Wdr19-KO (knockout) mice exhibited very short or no primary cilia, while the WT and Pkd1-KO mice (Pkd1f/- ; Cdh16-creTg/0) exhibited intact primary cilia.
4.  The Wdr19 & Pkd1-KO mice (Wdr19f/- ; Pkd1f/- ; Cdh16-creTg/0) exhibited intermediated bodies and kidney sizes between the Wdr19-KO and Pkd1-KO mice at postnatal 14 days. Also, the renal cyst sizes of Wdr19 & Pkd1-KO mice were also between those of Wdr19-KO and Pkd1-KO mice.
