The fifth of December in 1988。After finished in 1994，it became the first massive supply unit of laboratory rodents，which is also qualified for the international quality，SPF。In order to the needs of international and national trend and transform of mission，it has been transformed successfully from a unit which mainly supplies laboratory animals into a perfectly functioned 「national laboratory animals resource centre」, commanded by national applied research laboratories after reorganized.
National laboratory animal centre have been transformed from a role producing and offering high quality and clearly genetic characteristics into an multifunctional organization which systematically and diversely can not only produce the animals strains the research units in the nation and the bio-technique factories require, but also provide the promise toward the quality of the laboratory animals and the marketing amount. NLAC will keep produce diligently. Besides offering high quality laboratory animals and the service and development of concerned technique, NLAC will strive for the international qualification of laboratory animals with the target to reach the international standard, upgrading the research results of national bio-technique. Hoping by operating these targets, NLAC will becomes the seed resource of laboratory animals which can really support the study of our national bio-medicine and the sustainable development of the bio-technique industry, becoming the resource of international laboratory animal science advance.
The future location of NLAC will take becoming the ingenious Jackson Lab. as the final target, quickly transforming into an international animal facility which has balance production of multi-strained rodent laboratory animals, technique service ground and the cultivation of professionals in the hope strengthening the functions of the centre in the most practical way. With all those mentioned above built an 「international laboratory animal resource centre」which can satisfy the nation bio-technique industry and the organizations of academic science research, bridging with the developing bio-technique industries. Thus, the future laboratory animal resource centre will have following functions hopefully:

NLAC had set up aggressively in the southern science centre in the southern science park. Apart from improving the environment needed for three missions mentioned above, NLAC will make the southern science park into a basic structure in the southern science bio-technique park. In other words, it will service the bio-technique companies in the park and help them to process the animal? ?experiments needed. Besides, the southern science park will also combine the producing and academic researches nearby the park, providing the resource, strengthening the education and the research development, implementing the role which the NLAC should help our nation in the laboratory animals science. |
